I’ve only been playing Madden Ultimate Team or MUT as it’s most referred to for 2 years now and I’ve enjoyed playing both years with a stacked 99 team each year.  My first year was in Madden 25 which started on the Xbox 360 and then transferred over to the Xbox One next gen.  One thing was for sure, and is that I was addicted as hell and spent way too much money on packs.  It really is easy to not even realize how much money you’re spending.  Since buying a bundle here and there you don’t really realize the damage you’ve done until you look at all of your paypal statements.  I actually went back and added everything up from Madden 15 and it came out to be $3,574 that I spent on packs (Yes I know I’m Insane).  But was it really worth it?  I’ll be going over some pros and cons of spending vs building a budget team.
One of the best parts about spending money is that whatever card comes out you’ll have to ability to obtain it.  Either opening enough packs to pull it or by selling other cards to obtain coins and just buying it.  Also, it’s just a lot of fun to just rip a ton of packs whenever you want making it like Christmas every day.  You can never really use the excuse of losing because of your team if you spend money (not like team really means everything in the long run) but you definitely can feel a difference when playing vs people with normal cards vs your Golden Tickets and Boss cards.  One of the bigger problems with spending money though is the fact that you’re SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!!  Don’t get me wrong I spent money but I also spent money that was flexible for my budget and I sure hope none of you are taking out loans or anything to play a video game.  I also feel that when you spend money you don’t really learn how to maximize features such as sniping or using the auction house, just ask Kilo how many high dollar silver cards he’s discarded over the last year because he had to have the 100 coins now.

I actually said at the beginning of Madden 15 that I was going to do a budget squad and grind the entire year and guess how long that lasted…you got it, about 4 hours.  As soon as I saw the stats on that MUT Master Richard Sherman I was hooked and I just had to do whatever I needed to get that and it was going to entail spending money to get the high valued cards right then and there.  I have a few friends who didn’t spend any money and were able to grind our the Master collection in January when most of the base cards dropped in price.  Another huge reason to grind instead of spending money is that you truly value each and every card that you get.  I can’t tell you how many Larry Foote cards I’ve discarded this year or some of the rare golds before the Sanders set, when you’re not buying a ton of packs your binder doesn’t overflow to where you just start discarding the lowest card.  Grinding your way to a good team also makes you better on the auction house since you’re going to be more patient since your coins have true value to you.  Perhaps the biggest reason to grind and not spend money is the fact that if you’re subscribing to our site then you have an amazing scheme which will overpower higher rated players.  You can win coin and card games with an 85 team vs most 90+ players with no scheme.

When I look back on it I truly wish I had gone with the grinding scheme rather than spend money.  Yes it was fun to open packs but there’s no reason why someone of my skill needs to be spending money on this game.  Sure I’ll probably spend maybe $60 on a bundle at the release but that’s only because I’ll probably win some local tournament for a free copy of the game.  I definitely am going to be looking forward to bringing you guys a weekly video about the growth of my team and great budget players throughout the year on our YouTube channel so make sure you keep an eye out for that.  Thanks again for taking the time to check out my article guys I really appreciate it, I know I’m not the greatest writer, but I always promise to bring you guys my honest opinions and thoughts about the game whether it’s good or bad.
