In this video we go over a single play. Not a blitz, not a money play, but simply a really good play to cause confusion. Today we go in-depth on Cover 3 from the Quarters 3 Deep formation. This play is completely underutilized by the community and it is a shame really with how well zones play this year. Let’s break it down a little more.
First off – This is not good run defense. Please only run this is 100% certain passing situations. Secondly, do not base align this defense. Just come out and press. That’s it. The confusion this causes is related to how heavy people only see man to man in the 3 deep formation. (www.ameriseed.net)
As for the question “who do I user?” – well you can user anyone you want here. I typically like to user one of the slot yellow zones and leave him in position until the ball is hiked. This small decision leads to even more confusion as everyone is used to seeing people play on their deep safety here. Trust me – this play is great to use once or twice a game.
