Beating The Switch Stick

Every concept in this scheme attacks the same weakness. Learn the read once and every play gets easier.

Switch sticking is harder in CFB 27. Routes that sit between zones force your opponent to switch early or give up the catch.
If they switch early, the streaks over the top come open. If they sit deep, the underneath routes are free money.
The first read on almost every play is the running back. His stock routes break faster than hot routed versions.
Aggressive catch the sit routes so your receiver works back to the ball and it cannot get knocked out.

Crossers

Free Preview

Easy Zone Beater

Set Up

1Call Crossers from Gun Bunch (audible 1). Best against any zone. Put it away against man.
2Leave R1 on his stock crosser. It runs shallower than a hot routed crosser and is much harder to switch stick.
3Streak Square, drag X, return route on Circle.
4First read is the RB flat. His stock break is almost instant, so you can throw it right away for catch and run yards.
5Zones sink deep: take the return route for easy yards. Zones bite down: the crosser sits in the soft spot behind them.

Adjustments

Flip it: streak R1, slant X, return route on Circle. Now the left crosser works behind a slant plus flat high low.
If they switch stick early to the crosser, the streaks over the top come open.

Set Up

1Route stem the solo receiver's shallow cross UP 1 or 2 clicks. It cuts deeper across the field and rounds off at the top.
2Move your QB one step up or back after the snap. This play has an automatic rollout and moving the QB cancels it.
3Aggressive catch the stemmed cross every time so the receiver works back to the ball.
4Stem 1 click against 5 yard hooks, 2 clicks against deeper zones.

Adjustments

Flood the right side: the RB route to the right creates a high low that hard flats struggle to cover.

1The star is the stock RB seam to the opposite side. It replaced last year's wheel glitch and it is better.
2Streak R1, post on X, drag on Square.
3Motion the Circle receiver out wide every time. It clears room for the RB to possession catch and beats Cover 2 with a late sideline throw.
4Possession catch the RB seam in the open window.

Adjustments

Against match: only drag Square. R1 crosses the safety's face. If they user that safety, the RB comes open because the safety is the one carrying him.
The tight end leaks open in the flat against match whenever the opponent users the third defender and does not chase him.

Y Curl

Easy

Cover 3 Beater

Set Up

1This is the Cover 3 punisher (audible 4). Call it when you see Cover 3 or Cover 3 Cloud.
2Put the RB on a wheel route.
3Pass lead the in and up streak toward the inside and aggressive catch it. Great spacing against Cover 3.
4Put R1 on a curl and stem it UP 2 clicks. Throw it right at his break and aggressive catch so it cannot get knocked out.
5Against cloud or curl flats the RB bumps into the zone. That is your cue to hit the tight end underneath on the left.

Adjustments

Against hard flats, keep the RB on his stock route. It develops slower but still climbs the sideline.
If they overplay the left or man up the RB, work the stemmed R1 curl on the right.

Set Up

1Same concept, two plays: the in route flips between R1 and the solo receiver. Mix both calls.
2Put the tight end on a slant or a drag. Both work (watch the video for the exact look).
3Look underneath immediately: tight end, RB, or the R1 zig.
4Against 5 yard hard flats, the RB occupies the flat zone. Lead the tight end up and throw right away.
5On Dig Return, add a return route over the middle to stress the yellows and stem R1 up 1 click for extra separation.

Adjustments

These calls force the yellows to bite down. Once they do, Crossers and Dash Flood open up over the top.
The zigs are weaker against man. If they man it up, take the checkdown and move on.

Stem the solo cross up 1 vs 5 yard hooks, 2 vs deeper zones. Move the QB one step after the snap. Aggressive catch the cross.

Motion Circle out wide every time. The stock RB seam opposite is the star. Vs match: drag Square only. Vs Cover 2: late sideline throw.

Put Crossers away vs man and the zigs get weak: take the checkdown. Vs a safety carrying the RB, the seam wins.
