The Salary Cap Defnsive Guide is our sister guide to The Tombstone Defensive Guide. We will break down the 34 over formation in great detail and cover a few other blitzes using the same personnel groupings. While this guide does not contain a heavy amount of content you will want to go through each and every video to learn and master this formation. Even if you are not playing Salary Cap this is the breakdown you want to effectively learn how to be a jack of all trades from a single formation.  Inside this guide you will find;

34 Over Breakdown

Below we want to go over all of our 34 over plays and the videos have been placed in order that we recommend you watch them. This will allow us to show you when to flip the play, how to attack popular formations, setup a solid run defense, and employ confusing tactics. This formation is not just a blitz, but an entire strategy that can be used all game long to stop, crush, and force your opponent to concede.

Base Defense (right)

Base Blitz (passive)

  1. Base Align
  2. Shift defensive line right
  3. Crash defensive line up/out
  4. Remove backside defensive end

Trio Sky Zone (aggressive)

  1. Base Align
  2. Shift defensive line right
  3. Crash defensive line up/out
  4. Remove backside defensive end
  5. Slide blitzing MLB out like in video

Base Blitz (aggressive)

  1. Base Align
  2. Shift defensive line right
  3. Crash defensive line up/out
  4. Remove backside defensive end
  5. Slide right MLB out like in video, blitz him, and contain

Cover 3 Buzz Mike (aggressive)

  1. Watch video – Setup is very aggressive and obvious that an overload is coming.

Added 2/14: Post Patch. You can use any play from the formation where the play art has the right of screen lb using the “long” blitz angle (Cover 3 sky, cover 2 sink, etc).

You may want to adjust the SS from his stock yellow zone to maximize coverage. Please attempt to make all shifts before the defensive line gets set.

Please flip the play at the play call screen.

34 Over – Cross Fire 3

Please do the steps in order.

  5. QB Contain and move right of screen MLB to the left until the contain goes away (see video)
  6. Bluff Blitz Left of Screen Defensive End

34 Over – String Pinch Zone

  1. Base Align

  5. Adjust 2 left of screen linebackers into coverage
  6. Make any other coverage adjustments needed
